Manny Pacquiao Workout
|Manny Pacquiao is considered to be one of the best boxers of all-time. He is the first boxer to win seven championships in seven different weight classes and is well accomplished inside and outside the ring. Manny has one of the most ripped bodies for a lightweight on the grand stage.
A few years ago, Pacquiao hired conditioning coach Alex Ariza to prepare him for the David Diaz fight and never looked back. With the help of Ariza’s unique conditioning methods, Pacquiao defeated Diaz, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, and Joshua Clottery, cementing himself to the top of the throne.
Said Pacquiao, “I like what Alex is doing. When I was an amateur, the approach in training was similar. But as a pro, this was the first time I was exposed to scientific strength and conditioning.” Ariza creates a conditioning program on HIIT (high-intensity interval training). This system focuses on fast-twitch muscle fibers to improve explosiveness and zeros in on nutritional values to reach the most ideal body composition. Pacquiao’s heart rate, pulse, body fat, and recovery rate is closely monitored by this program.
Pacquiao’s workout is as follows:
At 6 AM, he does a 45 minute run and then sprints. He eats, sleeps, and then does three hours of training in the gym.
He works for three hours on everything from speed work to heavy bag work and is intense throughout all 180 minutes to make the session grueling enough to be reminiscent of a 12 round match.
Manny starts by performing shadow boxing. Then he goes to a classic mitt routine. Then he develops his footwork. Subsequently, he works on the double bag, speed bag, and heavy bag. After he’s done with that, he goes to jump roping and conditioning. At this point he’s absolutely exhausted but he finishes off with ab training. He does 1,400 crunches a day and gets hit by a bamboo stick so he can better absorb blows in the fight.
Manny’s nutritional and diet regimen involves rice, beef broth, chicken soup, and protein shakes.
