BREAKING NEWS – Kai Greene just dropped a bombshell on the bodybuilding community. He informed the public that he will not be allowed to compete in the 2015 Mr. Olympia competition that takes place this weekend. Kai, who finished runner up the last three years, was one of the favorites this year to dethrone Phil Heath.

In a video posted to his YouTube channel shown below, Kai looked extremely sad and frustrated at not being allowed to compete. He kept referring to a lot of stuff going on “behind the scenes“ but would not elaborate further.

According to the website DoYouEven, Kai had big plans to launch his Dynamik supplement line in conjunction with the Olympia. His agent demanded a free title sponsorship, a 20×20 booth space and no union load-in fees. Olympia reps countered by wanting Kai to fork over sponsorship money like everyone else. Each side failed to compromise and now Kai is not allowed to compete at the Olympia. As a result of this conflict, there is a rumor that American Media Inc., the leading publisher of health and fitness magazines like Men’s Fitness, Muscle & Fitness, Flex and Shape, is completely pulling the plug on him and pressuring other magazines to do the same to sabotage his line and push him over the edge.

MP’s Take: If this is true, this is terrible timing for both Kai Greene and the Olympia. Kai has trained and dieted practically all year for the Olympia but becomes ineligible to compete at the very last minute. Kai can’t showcase his supplement line at the world’s biggest bodybuilding show and finally get over the hump and win the Olympia and the iconic Sandow trophy. In addition, the Mr. Olympia competition also takes a major without one of the biggest names in the sport. There sure will be a lot of angry spectators and fans this weekend at the event. Let’s hope they can get this situation resolved so Kai can compete in time but it does not seem likely with only a few days to go. I wonder if this will absolutely kill Kai’s momentum and hurt his reputation and career in general. We shall see…
