Mike the Situation Sorrentino Workout
|Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has some of the best abs on television. So how does the ab-fabbed Jersey Shore star look the way he does? Speaking with Us magazine, The Situation shared some of his secrets when it comes to building that lean midsection.
The Situation believes that working out five to six times a week with at least 30 minutes of cardio is ideal. You need to burn the layer of fat covering your abdominals in order to get those shredded abs. Therefore, burning those extra 300-500 calories from cardio training puts you a step ahead, rather than solely relying on weight training. To put it in simplest terms, the cardio is actually burning the fat and the weight training is building the ab and oblique muscles.
The Situation believes that you should work your abs every other day along with your lower back. When you train your abdominals you put a lot of added stress on your lower back and training your lower back will only help you boost the strength and training regimen of your abdominals. As seen on the Jersey Shore and in various videos, he likes to do a lot of hanging raises to work his midsection.
Regarding diet, The Situation focuses on eliminating processed food such as cookies, cakes, and other sugary foods. These put on unnecessary calories and offer little to no nutritional value. In addition, he prefers water as his drink of choice rather than other beverages like juice or soda. His propensity for water helps him stay lean. Not only does water flush out toxins or prevents fatique, but drinking more water may burn calories 3% faster. Drinking water can also help to prevent overeating and thus benefit staying lean. Most importantly, water offers no additional calories or sugars, making it the ideal beverage for those looking to stay lean.
